Movie Review - AVATAR (2009)

This week, we would like to share a review of the movie called Avatar, the 3 main points are the introduction about the movie, the plot, and my opinion.

Avatar also known as James Cameron’s Avatar is a science fiction film directed by James Cameron. He began developing the movie in 1994 when James wrote an 80-page treatment for the film. The film was also planned to be released in 1999 but the technology was not available according to James vision of the film, so it took him around 9 years to finish the film. Also, Avatar was officially budgeted at $237 million, due to advance visual effects that have been requested by James in cooperation with Weta Digital and Wellington. Not to forget that because of the successful film has led to electronics manufacturers releasing 3D televisions and caused 3D films to increase in Popularity. The film broke several box office records and became the highest-grossing film at the time as well as in the United State and Canada. Avatar remained the highest-grossing film in the world for nearly a decade until it was overtaken by Avengers: Endgame directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo in 2019. The natural resource that has been found by The Resources Development Administration (RDA) in Pandora is the valuable mineral called unobtanium. Pandora a planet that has the same structure as the earth has an advantage for humans living there. To explore Pandora, genetically matched human scientists use Na’vi human hybrids called avatars which is a 10-foot tall, blue skin, by using avatars could help PDA to communicate with the Na’vi that have lived there a long time ago until now.Furthermore, Paraplegic Marine Jake Sully is sent to Pandora to replace his deceased identical twin who had signed up to be an operator. The Avatar Program head Dr. Grace Augustine considers Sully inadequate because he doesn’t have any basic background in science so she accepts him as a bodyguard. The first day of his job is to escort the avatar of Grace and Dr. Norm Spellman, Jake's avatar is attacked by the Pandora wildlife and he separates with the others in the forest, where he is rescued by female Na’vi Neytiri. She saw something different in Jake’s avatar that makes her take to the clan.
At the end of this review, I would highly recommend this movie to the viewers for its best visual effects. Though the plot may be lack of surprise elements, the movie somehow worth watching for its amazing characterization and visualization.
